Natalie helps her dad make this apple pie and they both love to eat it with either lashings of cream or ice cream.
Ingredients:
Filling
400gram - 600gram tinned apple
or stew 5 - 6 Granny Smith or Braeburn apples

Pastry
250 grams of very soft butter
¾ of a cup of caster sugar
1 egg
the grated rind of an orange or lemon.
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
2 ½ cups of flour
2 ½ teaspoons of baking powder

Instructions:
Pre heat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius.

Process the butter, sugar and egg until the mixture is creamy. Mix in the rind and essence.  Add the flour and baking powder and mix it all together until it forms a dough. 
Grease a cake tin and press 2/3 of the pastry into the base and up the sides of tin. Spread the apple filling over the base.
Place remaining 1/3 of pastry on top. Cook the apple pie for 40 min.

Leave it to  cool a little before serving with cream or ice cream.

Notes:
Sometimes, if they don’t have enough apples, Natalie and her dad use other fruit as well, like peaches.
