Rhiarna loves these candy apples!

Ingredients

The help of an adult

14 short wooden sticks
14 apples

1lb (500 grams) brown sugar 

3 oz. (85 grams) butter or margarine
2 teaspoons white vinegar
6 fl. oz. (170mls) water

4 tablespoons light corn syrup

Method
Push a stick firmly into each apple.  With the help of an adult heat all other ingredients in a pan until sugar and butter melted.  Bring the mixture to the boil for 5 minutes without stirring until a teaspoon of mixture dropped into cold water becomes hard. Stand the pot in water to cool it. Carefully dip each apple into the mixture, then stand them on a lightly buttered plate to set.

Notes
The toffee in this recipe gets extremely hot! Be very careful when you make this.
